On 13th of August, Gnanam School of Business had a power talk with Mr.Sunil Pillai -Retail Manager of TTK Prestige (SI).The future of retail industry was discussed, giving insights about the evolution to the contemporary trends. FDI in retail was a hot topic among discussions. The present face of organized retail, key players, GDP contribution, and market overview was looked upon. The retail sector being highly fragmented and in organized with traditional family run small stores provides immense opportunity for large scale retailers and manufacturing houses like TTK to set up organized retail stores including specialty stores thus redefining the retail landscape in India. Mr. Sunil Pillai also quoted BMI India retail report data which mentions a growth in retail sales from about US $395 billion to UD $ 785 billion by 2011.He attributed this to the economic growth witnessed in the country, the higher disposable income in hands of family units and an expanding Indian middle class.
