Gnanam School of Business, a leading business school in Thanjavur is inducting the fresh batch of MBA students for the MBA program 2011-13. The Induction Program spread over 3 days help students to be oriented towards the guiding principles of the program that include empowering students with distilled business wisdom, insights and a strong conceptual foundation, inculcating in them the character to emerge as future business leaders that will be a benchmark for excellence in every aspect of business education.
The inaugural session was conducted on the 7th of September 2011 at the campus. Dr. M. Punniyamoorthy, Professor NIT Tiruchirappalli, and Mr. S.P. Selvaraj, Chairman of GSB, were the Chief Guest for the event. They lighted the “Kuthu velaku” and inaugurated the session. The CEO Mr. S.P.S. Arul Doss gave the presidential address where he used an anecdote to instil the rigor of the MBA program to the students. Dr. M. Punniyamoorthy in his Inaugural Address asked the students to persevere towards developing a “Distinctive Competency” which will help them stay ahead of the pack. He shared his personal experiences and enlightened the students on how they could go about developing that competency which will be valued by the industry. The Director Dr. R. Sankaranarayanan addressed the gathering and welcomed the first year students to the campus.




This session was followed by a session on “Industry expectations form a MBA” by Mr. Krupakar, AVP – Training, AXIS Bank. This was an interactive and lively session on the industry’s expectations from an MBA. He urged to students to not only restrict their focus on a select few industries like IT and Banking, but also to spread out their wings to other areas like retail and manufacturing. He then went on to explain the banking industry’s expectations from a MBA and touched upon the pains and tribulations facing the industry due to the global economic downturn.


Dr. Ashok Babu Murari, MD - Tristaar Biomed, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Director Parivarthan and Dr. Rajeesh Viswanathan, Asst. Professor at Pondicherry University were the chief speakers for the day 2. Dr. R. Sankarnarayanan Director GSB and Mr. S.P.S. Arul Doss CEO of GSB welcomed the speakers and the fresh batch of students. The excitement among the students was palpable as the speakers recounted their experiences and enlightened the students on a variety of topics.
This session was followed by a session on “Necessity for transformation from a student to a Business Executive”. Mr. Rajesh Sharma discussed and involved the students in a debate on how to run a business and the need to follow certain ground principles for the same. He informed the students on what a recruiter is looking for in a passing out MBA student and what they need to equip themselves in their two years stay in the campus. He added that the major step they need to follow as they start their course is to inculcate the habit of time management before doing any task.
