Gnanam School of Business, Thanjavur conducted a Power Talk titled, "All about Stocks – An introduction to Stock Market" on 4 September 2013 to introduce its first year students of MBA to the world of Stock Markets. The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Ramkumar from Akshaya Investments, Maudrai. An introduction was given on Stock exchange to find a company’s name by its value by viewing its brand. The resource person enlightened the students on the judicious assessment and analysis of the stock market and the companies thereof. The students were also taught about shares and how the companies float their shares into the stock market through IPO. The main part was learning about the BSE, NSE, and MCX Stock Exchange Limited, Sensex, Nifty, clearing corporations, depositories, and the services provided. This session was held to teach the students on how to utilize market intelligence through the newspapers, how fluctuations in the stock market take place and with regard to the speculations of securities. Finally, the Power Talk was concluded with an the interactive question hour.
